Police seek custody of US returnee Salman Mohiuddin

The court is yet to give an order granting his custody to the police

Hyderabad: Shamshabad police approached Rajendranagar court seeking the custody of US returnee Salman Mohiuddin. The police has sought at least 15 days to interrogate him over his alleged plans to join the Islamic State.

Cyberabad officials said that since he was tracked by intelligence agencies, the investigation officials did not have sufficient time to thoroughly interrogate . Salman was remanded by the local court soon after his arrest from RGI airport at Shamshabad.

The court is yet to give an order granting his custody to the police, while the application has been taken into consideration. “We are yet to get the court’s permission. After his arrest, we could only get few hours to talk to him,” said the officials.

Cops hope to find out about his foreign girlfriend who was supposed to join him in Dubai, and their alleged plans to join IS.

Syria to join IS. Meanwhile, the cops are examining his laptops, mobile phone, and storage devices to find out the ‘extremists materials’ he possessed. The investigation officials have also collected the call details to track the contacts he made in the last three months.

Investigation officials revealed that Salman had influenced more than a 100 youngsters by propagating the ideas of Islamic State’s ideologies. However, his father had denied the allegations.

Salman, a 32-year-old, who got his MS graduation from Houston, US, and a resident of Bazarghat, was caught by Intelligence agency officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. He was going to fly to to Dubai, from where, as police claimed, he was about to go to Syria.
