Mahbubnagar will get water soon: Chandrasekhar Rao

This is his second visit to the slums in the districts

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said the TRS government is bound to its promise of alleviating poverty in slums across the state. Mr Rao visited various slums in Mahbubnagar, inspected dilapidated houses and huts and expressed concern over lack of basic amenities for people residing there.

This is his second visit to the slums in the districts after his last week’s four-day Warangal trip. However, his Mahbubnagar visit to slums was only a one-day affair, which brought a sigh of relief to officials who were expecting Mr Rao to stay for a few days keeping them on the toes.

Mr Rao said it is unfortunate that influential and powerful people live happily in big houses even encroaching someone’s land while the poor are left to suffer. “It is for this reason, we have decided to regularise lands for poor up to 125 square yards for free. We want to ensure that the poor live happily without any fear of demolition of their houses,” Mr Rao said, while addressing public meetings at various slums. He said the TRS government would provide a permanent solution for the drinking water problem in Mahbubnagar district with its Telangana Water Grid project, set to commence soon. Admitting that the people of Mahbubnagar get water supply once in 14-15 days, Mr Rao assured that Mahbubnagar town would soon get water supply from the Srisailam project.
