Strength in numbers?

Surrogacy has been around in India for ages and ages

Jai Ramji ki
Oh Mighty One,

I write to you with great pride as a Hindu woman who has contributed to a good cause by being the mother of six children. Six. Two more than the number recommended by you to all Hindu women.

At the time I had my babies, the foolish government in power those days was advising the people of India to stop at two. Remember that meaningless slogan, “Hum Do. Hamarey Do”?

Being a defiant woman, I totally ignored the campaign and went ahead with my own plans. Family planning was a big thing. But at least we were not punished for breaking the rule and having more children, like they are in China.

We have always been far superior to the world in our thinking. That we know, for sure. But frankly, your latest advice to Hindu women needs to be publicised better.

After all, there is a sound theory behind the advice. How else can Hindu religion be saved and better served? Strength in numbers that’s what you are telling us. I don’t see why people have a problem with that. What are fertile wombs for if not to produce and reproduce… and produce some more?

As a Hindu woman, I had realised my duty decades ago. But my service to the nation had gone unrecognised. It is only now, after your inspiring speech, that I realise the significance of what I had undertaken.

Forgive me, Maharajji, but I hadn’t heard of you till you made that insightful comment. We need parliamentarians like yourself people who are progressive and forward thinking.

You have clearly seen the future. And in that future, Hindu women actively participate in saving Hinduism from shrinking or getting outnumbered. If only the irrefutable logic of this theory had been articulated earlier, perhaps women from my generation would also have followed my own example and India would have benefited overall.

Of course, this era’s Hindu women must make up for lost time… and catch up with “others” who are out-producing us. This is our “kartavya” our obligation.

Through this letter, I want to thank you, for showing us the way forward. I used to feel pretty guilty about having six kids… suddenly, I am on top of the world! Thank you, Maharajji.

So, Maharajji, all I want to tell you is that I had a great deal of fun and fulfilment creating those wonderful babies. One of them has created two of her own during the past four years.

I must tell her she is two short of the target. I dare not say this in her husband’s presence. But, we women have our ways! I will, of course, explain her duties as a Hindu mother to her as best as I can.

If I falter, may I phone you? Or if that number is not meant for lowly mortals like myself, perhaps I could seek guidance from Sadhvi Prachi? I heard her theories on the subject and found them fascinating.

She said India belonged to Hindus earlier, and belongs to Hindus now. Is it “ófficial’’ I mean, I don’t want to pass on half-baked knowledge to the next generation.

If I want my daughter to go forth and produce more children in the national interest, I must get my facts right. The virtuous Sadhvi, Behen Prachi, also reminded us that Hinduism needs to be protected.

She said Hinduism needs to be absorbed. It can’t be found lying in mosques or prostrating in churches. I always thought Hinduism can be found in the hearts and minds of believers regardless of where they lie or prostrate.

I realise my deep folly now... and want to make up for any lapses. Had I been 25 years younger, I would have definitely produced more children and worked on the blatant imbalance.

In the wicked West, there are techniques to impregnate 70-80 year old women, I am told. But even my newfound fervour for this great cause prevents me from undertaking something as drastic.

Mainly, I am embarrassed by what my granddaughters would say if they found out their ancient “nani” was pregnant. They are still too young to comprehend the true motivation behind the multiplication theory which, at their age doesn’t go beyond 2x2=4.

Ooooops. That’s your theory too, in a way! Science is such a great tool (no pun, no pun! promise!). Our scientists from Vedic times must surely have cracked the in-vitro technique and produced test tube babies.

Surrogacy has been around in India for ages and ages. Despite all our advanced knowledge of organ transplants and so on, we allowed ourselves to lag behind the rest of the advanced world.

What’s even worse, we let other countries hog all the credit for our discoveries. It is time to assert ourselves and establish Hindu supremacy across the length and breadth of Bharat.

Those who question the veracity of such statements and claims must be forced to undertake a reorientation course, under your supervision.

You have also recommended the death sentence for those indulging in religious conversions and cow slaughter. No doubt, your followers will wholeheartedly support you.

“Ghar wapsi” is such a powerful idea. Nobody can possibly question the logic behind it. All this ties in very well with the four bachchas initiative.

As Hindu women of the 21st century, this is our basic obligation. And it is foolish to ask how we can feed, clothe and educate so many children, given the steep prices of everything from gobi to gas.

This is where belief in Bhagwan’s blessings comes in. Our job is to go forth and produce. The rest is upto God. Why do He give us wombs if not to make them work overtime for a higher purpose?

Sakshi Maharajji you are an eminent man, representing an eminent party. I am sure you have the full support of the top members of your team.

As a parliamentarian, we look up to personalities like yourself, who represent higher thinking and are far more evolved human beings than the rest of us.

As an MP you have special responsibilities towards those who voted for you. When you issue statements, we take you very seriously. Since nobody from your party contradicts you.

Nor are you and Behen Sakshi pulled up or challenged, we assume you reflect the party’s true sentiments. We were keen on hearing our Prime Minister’s reaction to your recent theories, but poor man, he must have been busy making top-class arrangements for President Barack Obama’s historic visit.

Now, I am a little worried about the other aspect of this strategy. Behen Sakshi had said “óther” communities marry four wives and produce 40 children. Maharajji, if we are to beat that record, should we not consider a few radical options?

Unless, of course, you want Hindu women to produce not four but eight children each, in future. Phew! That’s a lot of hard work, Not for the men, of course, Maharajji men in our wonderful and equal society, have always been especially blessed. But think of us, Oh Mighty One. Kabhi hamara bhi khyaal rakho!
