Hyderabad: The Centre is determined to bring in a new enactment to stop forcible conversions in the country.
Stating that the Modi government had instilled confidence in people in six months with proactive steps where the UPA government failed despite its 10-year rule, BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday asserted that forcible conversion could be stopped only through a strong and comprehensive law.
He wondered why the so-called secular parties were not supporting the government in this regard. Mr Shah also stated that discarding Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was on the BJP agenda, but the party lacked numbers in the Rajya Sabha and the Valley to take up the issue now, adding that the Congress cannot dictate to the BJP to snap ties with the Akali Dal.
“I don’t talk through the media. Talks are still on with regard to formation of the government. There is an unusual mandate... no party has majority. No one has absolute majority in the state. ”
