Hyderabad: Wary of the pungent Guntur chillies, the Andhra Pradesh government has shelved the idea of setting up temporary government office spaces in the Guntur chilli yard and has instead decided to set them up in the jaggery sweet temple town of Mangalagiri.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is firm on shifting the state administration machinery to the capital area by June 2015 and had said that it would be set up in temporary locations until the new capital was built.
Temporary offices will be set up at the Amaravati Township Layout in Mangalagiri in Guntur district.
Mangalagiri is famous for the Panakala Narsimha Swamy temple, which doesn’t have an idol but only a mouth. The presiding deity here takes only jaggery water (panakam) as an offering through a conch.
The AP government on Friday invited proposals for the construction of temporary office spaces on a carpet area of 5 lakh sft.
Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (Incap) has invited proposals for the construction of temporary office spaces to accommodate the heads of departments.
The government has also identified available lands in Mangalagiri. It has asked for Master Layout Plan, architectural drawings and detailed drawings according to the site conditions. The carpet area for the temporary offices would be 5 lakh square feet.
The accommodation is to be developed in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction mode using prefabricated framed RCC and PSC technology. Incap has asked for proposals by January 16.
A committee of officials had also identified some private buildings and market yards in Nagarjuna University to accommodate some heads of departments. The committee has identified 17 departments on priority basis to shift to the capital city region.
