Picture perfect party time

With New Year around the corner and everyone obsessing over the right photo

Mumbai: Everyone wants to look their best in photographs and with the party season here, you will be expecting to take a few fantastic shots. Here are a few tips on how you can ensure the best Instagram photo.

Apply a dash of colour:
Some days, for some reason you might not look your best in photos. Adding a dash of colour will make all the difference. While girls can go for a bright lip shade or scarf, guys can opt for a coloured shirt or a fancy pocket square for their suit.

Go background hunting:
While you would want to be the star of your photo, make sure the background isn’t working against you. Choose a bold and contrasting background. Also, make sure there are no awkward or distracting images behind you.

The creative angle:
Stand up straight and position your body at a 45-degree angle, place one foot in front of the other and place the majority of your weight on the back leg. Then do the classic ‘hand on hip’ pose by placing hand on the hip facing more in the direction of the camera. Get creative.

Laugh (Even if It’s Fake):
Most awkward photos are due to an unnatural pose by people in it. The fix: Letting out a little (or a big) laugh as soon as someone is about to click.

The skinny arm:
You can achieve the appearance of slim upper arms/minimise the appearance of arm flab by simply holding your arms slightly away from your body. This keeps upper arm flab from flattening out and therefore appearing flabbier.

Take the perfect selfie:
Perfect your photo-taking skills and take your photo game to the next level by learning how to take the best selfie. Also, get hold of the latest craze a monopod selfie stick, attach it to your phone and click away.

Cross your ankles:
If you are unable to avoid being shot directly facing the camera, try crossing your ankles, starting at the calf. This posture will give the appearance of narrower hips and longer legs. This makes for the perfect photo.
