Hyderabad: Man gets electrocuted while relieving in open

The victim is suspected to be a labourer and was carrying a handbag

Hyderabad: An unidentified man was electrocuted at an electricity junction near Keyes High School in Secunderabad on Saturday. It is suspected that he was relieving himself between an electricity junction box and the wall on a footpath.

The man who was electrocuted near Keyes High School, Secunderabad while he was relieving himself, was in his thirties. He accidentally came in contact with a live unit and received an electric shock. He sustained severe electric burns and died instantly.

According to the Gopalpuram police, the incident occurred at around 3 pm. The passersby who noticed the victim on fire, alerted the police. By the time the officials reached the victim, he had already died.

“We suspect he must have come to relieve himself and was in an inebriated condition at that time. He accidentally lost control over himself and came in contact with the RMU. He totally got stuck to it and was burnt completely,” said Mr S. Venkatesh, sub-inspector of Gopalpuram.

The victim is suspected to be a labourer and was carrying a handbag. He was wearing slippers. Police booked a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC and took up investigation. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. Lookout notices too were issued.

RMU is a electricity junction or unit which has incoming cables which are further divided in the area for distribution of electricity.
