Army Chief General Dalbir Singh reviews Assam operations

He directed his troops to extend all support to the state administration in bringing back normalcy
Guwahati: A day after Bhutan launched coordinated operations to drive out rebels fleeing into its territory from Assam, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh visited the state on Saturday and stressed the need for greater synergy with Central and state agencies in operations against the Songbijit faction of the NDFB.
The Army Chief, met senior field commanders at Rangia, the headquarters of the Army?s “Red Horn” division, and reviewed the deployment of 66 Army columns and took note of the road map planned by the Army jointly with the state police forces.
Gen. Singh directed his troops to extend all support to the state administration in bringing back normalcy and sought relentless operations against the militant outfit.
Meanwhile, the troops of the Red Horn division have started operating in the India-Bhutan border areas and asked for the suspending movement of tourists inside Manas Tiger Reserve, which borders Bhutan.
Admitting that NDFB rebels involved in the carnage are advancing towards Bhutan while some of them are taking shelter in Bodo villages, security sources said all radio communications of the outfit have been silenced.
