Fortune favours the fabulous. One now hears that the coveted role in Umesh Shukla’s All Is Well featuring Rishi Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan that Smriti Irani vacated due to her political commitments, has gone to Surpiya Pathak.
Names of other actresses like Shefali Shah and Tanvi Azmi were bandied around as replacements. But when one asked Shefali, she said she had not been offered the role. As for Tanvi, the role in All Is Well was indeed offered to her, however, her commitment to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani demands her full attention at the moment.
Says a source close to the film, “Some names were shortlisted to replace Smritiji. We needed someone who was talented enough to stand up to Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor) and also someone who would allot dates in January and February 2015. Supriyaji was our best bet.” Supriya Pathak who was seen giving a sterling performance in Bhansali’s last release Ram-Leela cautiously admitted, “Yes, I am truly hoping to do the film. We are in talks.”
