NSA releases report of times it illegally spied on US citizens

It also includes database queries on US citizens who weren't targeted

Washington: The National Security Agency, on the eve of Christmas, released reports of the times when they illegally spied on US citizens.

According to The Verge, the heavily-redacted documents were released in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union under the Freedom of Information Act.

The reports dating from 2001 to 2013 includes details of NSA stalking potential romantic partners and targeting US citizens for spying.

It also includes database queries that returned queries on US citizens who weren't targeted; storage of data on servers ‘not authorised’ to hold it, the report said. However, the report did not specify as to how many times the agency indulged in illegal spying over the American citizens.
