Private sector unit banks to remain closed for 12 days in January

ATMs and online banking will function as usual

Hyderabad: Public sector banks will remain closed for 12 days in January. Bank employees unions have announced that they would go on strike for five days. Banks will anyway be closed on New Year's Day, Sankranti and Republic Day. Add four Sundays, and banking will be closed for 12 days.

While ATMs and online banking will function as usual, those who need to go to bank branches for demand drafts, fixed deposits and other services will be affected.
The United Forum of Banking Unions has said that it intends to go on strike on January 7, and again for four days between January 21 and 24.

Y. Srinivasa Rao, president of the Central Bank of India Employees Association (AP-TS) said the UFBU has called for the prolonged agitation to protest “the adamant attitude of the Indian Banking Association” on its demands including wage revision.
