No post-poll ties with BJP: Omar Abdullah

He said there are no lines of communications open between the NC and other party

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, said on Monday that there are no lines of communication open between his National Conference (NC) and the BJP or any other political party including Congress and the regional Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to cobble up a coalition government in the state.

“As far as I know, and I should be the one in the know about these things, there are no lines of communications open between the NC and the BJP. There are no lines of communications open between the NC and any other political party; not the Congress and not the PDP,” he told a crowded press conference here.

The statement comes a day before the State Assembly election results and in the backdrop of Opinion Polls that predict a hung Assembly.

Mr. Abdullah had earlier during the day tweeted “I wish the UPA govt had risen above politics and conferred the Bharat Ratna on Vajpayee Sahib; would have been a fitting gesture.”

Asked if this was his way of coming close to the BJP, the Chief minister who is also working president of the NC ret-orted, “Does anybody re-ally believe that one tweet can make an alli-ance?” He said, “I don’t think anybody is foolish enough to believe that just because I want or I believe that Vajpayee Sahib should be given the Bharat Ratna that suddenly all other aspects will be forgotten and the National Conference and the BJP will in very Bollywood style go running to each other and hug each other in a field of mustard. This is not the way politics gets done.”

He also said, “I have not taken any decision during my tenure which I can term as blunder.”
