YSRC man to judge YSR deals

Bhuma, PAC head, will scrutinise alleged irregularities of YSR’s regime

Hyderabad: In a strange twist of fate, YSR Congress MLA from Nandyal, Bhuma Nagi Reddy, who is currently heading the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the AP Assembly, will be scrutinising various lapses and irregularities committed during late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime.

The last PAC in the undivided AP had scrutinised the CAG reports up to 2006-07. Now it is the turn of the new PAC to scrutinise the reports of years 2007-08 and 2008-09.

“Yes, there are some reports pertaining to YSR’s regime. Unless we go through the CAG reports and the irregularities it found, I cannot comment anything on what the PAC is going to do about it,” Mr Bhuma Nagi Reddy told to Deccan Chronicle.

Though the PAC is headed by a YSR Congress MLA, it is dominated by the TD members.

The Parliamentary practice is that CAG reports are placed in the legislature and are duly referred to the Public Accounts Committee to scrutinise.

The PAC, in which the local CAG official is also an ex-officio member, after scrutiny with state government officials, will either “express satisfaction over the excess expenditures pointed out by CAG, or propose further action on concerned officials including on recovery of money”.

It may be mentioned that the TD, after coming back to power, announced that it will initiate steps to recover the ill gotten money from all those who were involved in money making business during YSR’s regime. The CAG has also submitted a report on irregular land allotments.
