KPCC secretary lashes out at D Babu Paul

Mr Cherian has been working as sales controller of Bacardi Martini Private Ltd

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC secretary Johnson Abraham has lashed out at former bureaucrat D. Babu Paul for criticising the Congress and PCC president V. M. Sudheeran on the liquor policy.

Mr Babu Paul’s son, Cherian C. Paul, has been working in the multinational liquor company Bacardi Martini, which has been promoting alcoholism, Mr Johnson Abraham said referring to the series of articles written by Mr Babu Paul against the Congress in a Malayalam news weekly.

The KPCC leader alleged that the International Centre for Alcohol Policies (ICAP), which is mainly sponsored by Bacardi Martini, has been spreading the message that liquor consumption is best for improving the standard of life.

He claimed that Mr Cherian has been working as sales controller of Bacardi Martini Private Ltd. in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Pondicherry.

Mr Johnson also alleged that Mr Babu Paul, during his tenure as tourism secretary, had sold off KTDC’s two institutions to Taj Group which paved the way for his son’s employment as assistant manager with Tata Tea Limited during 1998-99.
