Dibi fastest girl after drama, Omkar boy

Along with Dibi, Omkar Nath representing Ernakulam was titled the fastest boy runner of the meet

Thiruvananthapuram: Dibi Sebastian, the fastest girl runner of the 58th Kerala State’s Schools Athletics Championship had to go through a few minutes of intense drama before being finally titled the fastest.

After the senior girls 100 meter race, Dibi from Kottayam, was announced the winner initially but the officials later corrected it and declared Shaharbana Siddique the winner.

After a few minutes, the verdict was again corrected by the officials and Dibi, after moments of angst, claimed the title.

The officials said they were confused because of the lean of Shaharbana at the crossing line. Along with Dibi, Omkar Nath representing Ernakulam was titled the fastest boy runner of the meet.

On day two of the meet, Ernakulam took the lead with 113 points followed by Palakkad with 77 and Kozhikode with 55. Mar Basil HSS Kothamangalam leads among schools with 46 points followed by HS Parli with 43 points and St Gerorge’s HSS Kothamangalam with 37 points.
