Srinagar: Three days after the terror attacks that killed 11 security personnel and two civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his poll rally in the Valley, said a finger pressed on an EVM is more powerful than the one on an AK-47 trigger.
He added that the misguided youth in the Valley are now feeling the burden of an AK47 and craving for Android 1 — a platform for mobile phones.
Seeking decisive mandate for the BJP, Mr Modi promised to take the restive state to the “heights of development.” He, however, evaded reference to Pakistan or its alleged role in recent terror strikes but said he doesn't want any mother lose her son to violence anymore.
Mr Modi said, “I went to Kutch again and again to serve the earthquake affected people. We built houses, roads and hospitals. But never talked about Pakistan. Today Kutch is witnessing fastest growth in the country.”
“The people of the state have suffered enormously during past 30 years for varied reasons including corruption, lack of development, unemployment apart from terrorism and violence and I promise today I will take them out of this jumble forever,” he added.
In his 30-minute speech, Mr Modi invoked Atal Behari Vajpayee saying, “Atalji made a good beginning on Kashmir. He spoke about ‘Insaniyat, Jumhooriyat and Kashmiriyat’. I will take the resolve forward and ensure the dream he saw is realised.”
