Enforcement Directorate quizzes Dasari Narayana for coal scam

Agency had booked Mr Rao under the stringent provisions of the PMLA

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday questioned former minister of state for coal Dasari Narayana Rao in connection with its investigations into the Coalgate scam case. The agency had booked Mr Rao under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of its probe into the scam.

According to sources, Mr Rao was asked about his role in the allocations made during his tenure and in specific about Jharkhand-based coal blocks allocated to a particular firm. Sources said more clarity was needed on his statements and he had been called again for questioning on December 18 along with some documents.
