Drug peddler held with 20 ampoules

Noushad was arrested with 3000 ampoules two years ago

Kochi: An Aluva native, who was earlier sentenced to 10 years in jail for drug-peddling, was again caught indulging in the act and arrested from Vypeen by the Excise Enforcement and Anti Narcotics cell during a special drive.

Noushad (37), Vazhakamadam, Karumalloor, was held with 20 ampoules on Monday night. “He was active in the Fort Kochi, Palluruthy and Vypeen areas, targeting students and youths.

He was arrested him while he was going to hand over the ampoules to a customer. The seized ampoules were Buprenorphine, norphine and Lupigest ampoules,” said Special Squad CI T S Sasi Kumar.

Noushad was arrested with 3000 ampoules two years ago. A local court then sentenced him to 10 years in jail but he obtained a bail from the High Court.

“Out on bail, he again indulged in drug-peddling. He was under our watch for the last one month. He used to purchase ampoules for Rs 60 from Delhi and sells it for Rs 600 here,” the officer said.

The squad during the drive also arrested an Assam native and seized 10 packets of ganja from him on Tuesday.

The arrested was identified as Muhammad Muneerudeen, a native of Bakthgav village in Siligandi. He used to sell each packet for Rs 250 to customers, mainly students, in Kolencherry and Perumbavoor areas.
