Mega swachh drive by Karimnagar Municipal Corporation

Apart from the civic employees, thousands of students belonging to various educational institutions, general public, members of self-help groups, professionals and voluntary organisations would participate in the campaign.

KMC Mayor S. Ravinder Singh said that around 50,000 people would participate in the drive to be taken up in all the divisions on a single day from 10.30 am to 12 in the noon. He said that meetings were being conducted with heads of the self-help groups and managers of private schools and colleges from the past few days. Similarly, several voluntary organisations and professionals would be involved the drive.

“Besides, Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah, Joint Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed and other officials will take part in the drive. The civic body’s 1,600 regular and casual employees be deployed in the mega drive. At least, 1,000 people are expected to take part in the drive in every division, he added.

Meanwhile, corporators have started mobilising their supporters and residents of the divisions to make the programme a grand success. As many as 150 tractors will be used to lift garba-ge, debris and shrubs from various localities to dump yards. Brooms, lime and bleaching powder have already been distributed.

Four officials have been deputed to monitor the arrangements and 50 in-charges were tasked for the smooth conduct of the drive. Instructions have been issued to concerned officials.

KMC Commissioner Srikesh B. Lathkar said that the KMC had decided to organise the drive in order to inculcate the habit of keeping surroundings clean among public.

The drive would also send a message across the society on the importance of having hygienic ambience in a locality. He pleaded the public to voluntarily take part in the drive.
