As many as 10586 ducks were culled by 50 RRT teams
Officials have alerted locals in Kuttanad on various modes of killing ducks and scientifically burying their carcasses, which cannot be left out in the open or abandoned in water. -DC
Alappuzha/ Kottayam: Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) culled 13,722 ducks in the bird flu affected areas of Alappuzha and Kottayam districts on Thursday.
As many as 10586 ducks were culled by 50 RRT teams in five places; Nedumudi-3058, Thalavadi-2100, Purakkad-1597, Ambalappuzha North-1475 and Bhagavathy paddy fields-2356.
In Kottayam, 1890 ducks were culled in Aymanam panchayath and 1246 in Kumarakom. The culling operations were carried out by 10 teams comprising a total of 60 members.
