Only Congress can ensure united India: Khushboo

Actress Politician said that joining congress is like feeling at home
New Delhi: Actor-politician Khushboo on Wednesday met Sonia Gandhi at the latter’s 10, Janpath residence along with AICC general secretary in-charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu Mukul Wasnik and Tamil Nadu Congress Comittee president E.V.K.S. Elangovan. Responding to questions on why she has joined the Congress and not the BJP, she told reporters: “I am in a place where I would like to be. And that is Congress. I feel at home.”
“Let bygones be bygones,” she said in response to questions as to why she quit the DMK. Ms Khushboo had campaigned for the DMK in elections in the past. She had joined the DMK in 2010 and quit the party in June this year following differences with the first family of the DMK.
Welcoming Ms Khushboo into the Congress, Mr Wasnik said it was a very positive move. Forty-four-year-old Khushboo, who was born in Mumbai, speaks Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and English.
In 2005, there was a well-publicised controversy about her remarks in an interview for AIDS awareness about the need for protected sex. She said it was fine for girls to have pre-marital sex but not without taking precautions to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
