Daylight robbery at woman Sub Inspector’s house

Women sub inspector was attached to Ayanavaram police station
Chennai: Around 110 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 3 kg of silver articles and cash were allegedly looted from the house of a woman sub-inspector (WSI) in broad daylight on Monday on Parthasarathy Swamy Street in Ice House. The burglary was reported in the house of WSI V.Bhuvaneshwari attached to the Ayanavaram police station.
Rajeshwari told mediapersons that she left the house at around 12.30 pm and returned two hours later to find the steel almirah broken open and valuables missing. She explained that the burglar entered through the old grill window near the pooja room and escaped with the jewels. Based on her complaint, Ice House police have registered a case and are investigating.
However, police suspect the veracity of the complaint and suspect the hand of the policewoman herself in the theft. An investigating official said that it is near impossible for any burglar to enter through the small gap unless we are talking about a thief whose body is flexible beyond imagination. Police are also probing a possible foul play by the woman sub-inspector to sort out a domestic issue in her family and suspect her to have stage-managed the robbery for personal gain, according to a senior police officer.
