RAJAHMUNDRY: Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy said on Sunday that the government had not blocked land transactions in the state including in the Guntur-Vijawayada region where capital will come up.
“Farmers can sell their lands and purchase it as per their interest. If they hand over their land for pooling for the capital, they can get Rs 1 crore per acre in the future,” said Mr Krishnamurthy, who handles the revenue portfolio. Adding, that would take at least one and a half years to start work on the capital.
He said that government would take all steps to protect the interests of farmers while collecting land for the capital.
The government would not force the farmers, it would convince them on land pooling, he said.
The government was committed to the welfare of the farmers but at the same time the capital would have built, he said.
Opposition parties should understand the position and not exceed their limits or incite the farmers. He requested the Opposition to give suggestions to build a good capital.
Responding a question, Mr Krishnamurthy said he did not join the Cabinet sub-committee on the capital as the people of Rayalaseema wanted to build the capital at Kurnool, which was the capital before the merger in 1956.
He said the government aimed at getting Rs 3,400 crore through registrations and 70 per cent of the target had been achieved.
