12 maoists likely dead in Chhattisgarh encounter

First battalion of the Maoist deployed in the area have recieved a heavy blow
Raipur: The Maoists’ first battalion has suffered heavy casualties in the Friday’s encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district in which an IAF copter was fired upon.
Police said that UAV monitoring the encounter has sent picutres which show that at least 12 Maoists were killed in Friday’s face-off. “We hope of recovering the bodies soon,” IG of Bastar range S.R.P Kalluri said, adding, “The encounter is very significant considering that the first battalion of the Maoist has been deployed in the area have recieved a heavy blow.”
According to him, the Red battalion has been deployed in the triangle of Elmagunda, Karrigundam and Gurlankum in Sukma district. “We are now focusing on engaging the
Naxals more and more to exhaust their arms and ammunitions. We have already stopped their supply line,” Mr Kalluri said.
