Complaint filed on LKG student rape

Parents of child complain against school

KOZHIKODE: Putting up a strong fight against the efforts of the Darul Huda English Medium School management to scuttle the probe into the sexual abuse of an LKG student, the parents of the child on Thursday lodged a complaint against school management representative Abdul Rahman Sakhafi for allegedly defaming the girl by making derogatory comments against her through various media.

The girl’s father lodged the complaint with the Kozhikode Rural SP, P.H. Asharaf, and Nadapuram DySP Prajeesh Thottathil.

“They have provided an audio clipping said to be that of Sakhafi. They said they also have a video clipping and I have asked them to submit that as well. I have forwarded the complaint to Nadapuram DySP for further action,” Mr Asharaf told Deccan Chronicle.

The Human Rights Commission has demanded a probe into the functioning of the school management and the marassa under it and demanded a report from Kannur SP P.N. Unnirajan.

“Whether the orphanage has a valid licence or not will be part of our investigation. So far we had only looked at the sexual abuse aspect and the second part of investigation will cover the activities and legality of the management,” Mr Asharaf said.

Meanwhile, the father of the child also lodged a complaint saying that he had been getting threatening calls from an internet phone asking him not to press ahead with the case.

“The girl’s father was called on November 6 night in his Qatar number by Sakhafi to pacify him. Sakhafi requested him not to proceed with the case and assured him that anything can be done to settle the case.

Now he is getting threat calls. However, we have decided to go ahead with the case, come what may,” Mansoor, a relative of the child told DC.

He said the girl was washed with Dettol solution after the incident and she was instructed to say that she got injuries on her private parts in a fall.
