GVK doesn't want NTR’s picture on 108 emergency vehicles

AP health minister Kamineni Srinivas is unhappy with private firm GVK

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh health minister Kamineni Srinivas is unhappy with private firm GVK for not responding favourably to paint NTR’s picture on the state’s 108 emergency vehicles.

Only recently, the AP Cabinet changed the name of the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme to NTR Vaidyaseva. Mr Srinivas told GVK representatives that at present, the 108 ambulances only have the state government emblem. Now that the government has named the scheme as NTR Vaidyaseva, it has for NTR’s picture to be painted on all the 108 ambulance vehicles.

Sources said that the GVK representatives did not respond favourably to the minister’s suggestion.

Mr Srinivas met AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Wednesday and informed him about GVK not responding favourably to his suggestion.

Mr Srinivas told him that the state government is bearing 95 per cent of the total expenditure and GVK will only have to bear five per cent.

He told Mr Ramakrishnudu that when GVK is running the 108 vehicles, how could they not consider the state government’s suggestion.

Mr Srinivas has proposed that if the GVK does not agree to painting NTR’s picture on the 108 vehicles, the agency should be changed or the expense should be divided equally between the government and GVK.

Mr Ramakrishnudu told the health minister to take the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s advice on the issue.

Later the Health Minister went to the CM’s office and briefed him. But the CM was busy with other review meetings and told the minister that they can discuss the issue later.

Before going to the CM’s office Mr Srinivas said that the government would review the government and GVK’s partnership in running the 108 vehicles. He said that the government has decided to fill the 350 doctor posts and the notification will be issued shortly.
