Brother Prasad Reddy saved Nityananda

He added that he could identify the man if he saw him again

Hyderabad: High drama unfolded at the KBR Park when an unidentified man, armed with an AK-47 rifle, ma-de a vain bid to abduct a top official of a city-based pharma company.

However, his brother K. Prasad Reddy came to his rescue.

“I pushed the barrel of the rifle up, and he fired three rounds. The bullets hit my car’s windshield. My brother, who was around 100 metres away, came running and caught the assailant from behind. In the scuffle he fired the rifle, and bit my brother’s hand to escape. The weapon and his bag slipped into my car before he ran away,” said Nityananda Reddy.

He added that he could identify the man if he saw him again. “He is 5-ft 3-4 inches tall. I have never seen him before,” he said.

According to an eyewitness, the attacker was struggling to overpower one of the brothers.

“I heard continuous gunshots while I was walking. I did not know what the sound was until I looked through the fen-ce. I saw two people having a scuffle and shouting. The man dropped the weapon and ran away,” said Md. Anhad, from Jubilee Hills.

The police has started investigating possibilities of Mr Reddy’s business rivals’ involvement.

A case has been booked under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 363 (kidnapping) with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Banjara Hills police station.
