Farmers protest High Court hearing

Farmers of Mellacheruvu moved the Court against MyHome Industries Ltd
Hyderabad: Farmers of Mellacheruvu village in Nalgonda district moved the Hyderabad High Court against a public hearing by MyHome Industries Ltd to establish a cement plant and mining limestone.
K. Nagarjuna and B. Aadinarayana, farmers of the village, filed the petition stating that the Telangana State Pollution Control Board had recently issued a notification to conduct a public hearing to establish a My Home Industries plant.
They said that the villagers objected to extension of limestone lease to the company over 141 hectares of the village for a new plan and subsequent lease for mining limestone in 56 hectares in Chowtapally and Mellecheruvu villages of the district.
They told the court that the farmers would be forced to suffer huge loss as the surrounding paddy fields would be completely damaged due to limestone mining. They urged the court to direct the authorities to stop conducting public hearing.
