All LPG consumers will have to link their connections with bank accounts to ensure subsidy

Kochi: Though Aadhaar is not mandatory for availing of LPG subsidy, oil marketing companies have made it clear that within six months from now, all LPG consumers will have to link their connections with bank accounts to ensure subsidy.
“The Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme to avail of subsidy through banks will be launched again from November 15. There will be a three-month grace period for consumers to move over to the scheme. During these three months, those who haven’t linked LPG connection with the scheme will receive the cylinders at subsidised rates. After that, there will be a three-month parking period, during which they will have to give the entire price of LPG cylinder. But if during this period the consumer joins the DBTL scheme by taking a bank account, his subsidy amount during the period will be credited to the account later. If the consumer fails to link the bank account to subsidy even after the parking period, he will not be entitled for subsidy,” Mr Murali Srinivasan, general manager, Indian Oil Corporation, told reporters here.
The DBTL scheme is being relaunched in all the 14 districts of the state and Kerala is the only state fully covered in the first phase. The officials of IOC, BPCL and HPCL said that the subsidy amount would be credited to the bank account of the consumer within 72 hours of the delivery of LPG cylinder.
Consumers who had joined the scheme earlier and had received cash subsidy in their bank accounts need not do anything further. To confirm this, they should check their CTC (cash transfer compliant) status on www.MyLPG.in.
