Low-lying areas were inundated, causing traffic jams
Hyderabad: Heavy rains lashed the city on Wednesday evening causing severe water-logging at several junctions leading to traffic chaos.

The average rainfall recorded in the city was 53.4 mm till 8.30 pm. Areas like Trimulgherry, Chilkalguda, Jubilee Hills and Marredpally recorded between 24-30 mm of rainfall.
Low-lying areas were inundated, causing traffic jams. Many junctions, including the Oliphant Bridge, Raj Bhavan Road and Somajiguda among others were completely water-logged, causing inconvenience to commuters with vehicular movement slowing down. The Mehdipatnam-Toli Chowki stretch was blocked. There was a 5-km congestion, choking traffic from Masab Tank to Shaikpet. Water from Jubilee Hills flowing down the Masab Tank junction caused more inconvenience.
“There is a low pressure area in the Southwest Bay of Bengal which is heading towards Tamil Nadu. Under its influence, many districts in south coastal AP, Rayalaseema and Telangana got rains,” said IMD scientist K. Seetharam.
