Sachin Tendulkar honours army men

Sachin honoured two CISF personnel before the match kick-off
Kochi: The crowd gathered to watch the Indian Super League match between Kerala Blasters and Mumbai City FC were in for a surprise when Sachin Tendulkar came down to honour two CISF personnel before the match kick-off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
M.L. Chauhan and Tarun Kumar, CISF personnel, were honoured as representatives of the Indian defence forces and Sachin draped yellow shawls around them.
“I want to thank the armed forces on behalf of the Kerala Blasters and the nation. They have done so much for our nation and continue to do so. We sportsmen only feel safe and secure because they are protecting us. We have various festivals and we celebrate them but these people don’t. We take our freedom for granted without realizing their sacrifice. Their discipline, selfess approach and dedication make us feel safe and secure. I just wanted to acknowledge their efforts and contributions and I welcome these heroes here,” said Sachin before honoring the two service personnel.
Though the number of spectators at the start of the match was low, the fans did not let down the organizers as a considerable number of people turned up later. The ambiance in the stadium was just as it was during the three previous matches. There will be a break of nine days before Kerala Blasters face Atletico de Kolkata in their next home match.
