The CCTV footage at Mysuru railway station holds key to the Mandya rape case
Mysuru: The CCTV footage at Mysuru railway station holds key to the Mandya rape case, where a 15-year-old girl from Bengaluru was raped and abandoned by an unidentified man in Melkote police station limits.
Sources said police are examining the CCTV footage to identify the rapist based on description given by the victim. She told the police that her attacker was around 40-years-old, wearing a red t-shirt and jeans. The police are also trying to contact co-passengers, who travelled with the girl and the rapist from Mysuru to Srirangapatna.
“It’s a very difficult task, but we are trying our best to nab the culprit. We are hopeful of arresting the accused,” Mandya SP Bhushan G. Borse said.
The girl had run away from home on Monday after a tiff with her mother and brother. She came to Mysuru and while wanting to return home met a stranger, who promised to take her home safely.
On Wednesday, Women and Child Development Minister Umashree met the girl, who is recouping at Mandya Medical College.
