Sujana Chowdary is Telugu Desam’s second trump card in Modi’s ministry

Andhra Pradesh’s representation in the Council of Ministers rose to four

NEW DELHI: The Telugu Desam’s Y.S. Chowdary aka Sujana Cho-wdary on Sunday became the second member of the party to be inducted into the Union Cabinet even as Andhra Pradesh’s representation in the Council of Ministers rose to four.

Mr Chowdary, 53, was sworn in as a minister of state in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet and his portfolio is yet to be announced.

His entry into the Council of Ministers over other seniors in the party is a testimony to his proximity with TD chief and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

With Mr Chowdary’s induction, the TD’s strength in the Union Cabinet is now two — Union civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju being the other TD member in the Cabinet.

Mr Chowdary said he was ready to take up any responsibility that Mr Modi would entrust him.
