Oppo may launch the N3 and R5 in India this December

The recently launched Oppo N3 and R5 may arrive in India in December 2014. The company made an official announcement on Twitter that it plans to launch these two handsets in 20 regions around the world by the end of this year.

Oppo claims that these handsets fall in its slimmest phones category. So, would you pick up the N3 or the R5? The below given comparison between the two handsets will help you to make a better choice.

Camera:

Oppo has introduced the element of automation to its smartphone cameras. The N3 features a 16MP-rotating camera, which can rotate around 206 degrees. Due to the rotational 16MP front/rear camera, the Oppo N3 becomes a tough competitor of the recently launched HTC Desire Eye’s 13MP camera.

On the other hand, the R5 features a 13MP camera on its rear side and 5MP front-facing camera. Oppo has added geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama features to the rear shooter of R5.

Display, body and thickness

The Oppo N3 handset sports a 5.5-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) display, coupled with a pixel density of 403 ppi. Whereas, the R5 has a 5.2-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) screen, equipped with a pixel density of 423 ppi. The display of both the smartphones are packed with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The Oppo N3 is heavier as compared to the R5. The N3 weighs around 192 grams and measures a thickness of around 9.9mm. On the other hand, the thickness of Oppo R5 is 4.85mm and device weighs around 155 grams.

Operating system, processor and RAM

Even though both the devices run on the same Android (i.e. v4.4.2 KitKat) operating system, these devices have been equipped by two different processors. Oppo N3 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AA Snapdragon 801 processor and the R5 is packed with Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 processor.

Oppo N3 comes with an in-built storage capacity of 32GB, which can also be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. However, the R5 comes with 16GB ROM, which is unexpandable. The N3 and R5 have 2GB of RAM.

Battery:

Fuelled with 3000mAh and 2000mAh Li-PO battery respectively, Oppo N3 and R5 comes with the Fast battery charging feature. This feature allows the handsets to charge up to 75 per cent in 30 minutes.

Oppo N3 handset will be available only in white, whereas the R5 will arrive in two colours - Silver and Gold.
