Both Shah and Thackeray had a discussion at Wankhede Stadium

Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray finally attended the swearing-in ceremony after BJP chief Amit Shah called him personally on Friday. The presence of the Shiv Sena president was seen as an indication that there could be a possible patch-up between the former allies in the coming days, especially as talks between both BJP and Shiv Sena continued on Friday.
BJP has offered 10 portfolios to its former ally while Shiv Sena has been firm on 14. Both Shah and Thackeray also had a discussion at Wankhede Stadium after the swearing-in ceremony.
According to highly-placed sources, after offering a meagre share in the Cabinet, BJP has now offered ten portfolios to the Shiv Sena to get it on board. The decision was taken in view of the fact that a minority government could not be sustained for ten years.
“A major problem before the Fadnavis-led BJP government is that they will not be able to take action against NCP leaders over corruption cases if they choose to take outside support from them. This has led the party to consider Sena as a better option for a stable government,” said a senior party functionary.
