Kat derives energy from Japanese veg stew
Katrina was on the lookout for some high energy food to keep up with her strenuous schedule of doing almost eight movies in a year. After all, Macrobiotics is all about energy and energy is derived by a person through food. It is believed, she is hooked on to Nishime and has it at least three times a week. It is basically a Japanese vegetable stew made of delicately sautéed lettuce, along with lighter vegetables cooked specifically during summer. She consumes warmer food during winter. Greens help in cleaning up her system.

Rajinikanth is vegetarian by choice
“It’s awesome that he has turned vegetarian. It’s good; you are closer to the energy of life; you are cleaner if you eat vegetarian food. Animal food causes health issues,” says Shonali
Hema Malini is conservative about her food choices
“She is very conservative about her kitchen and cooks at home. She takes tips and granola bars from me. Her daughters Esha and Ahana are also my clients, they order meals from my menu,” says Shonali.
Ajith loves his biryani
“Biryani is great if you are in great health. But you should keep in mind the sugar and the starch. The food is ‘yang’ with meat and the style of cooking, which is dum, is also ‘yang’. But it’s luxury food and you can’t eat it everyday.”
Dhanush says he feels healthy and light
“Dhanush was voted as the ‘Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity’ in 2011 in a poll by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The national award winner had said, ‘Being a vegetarian has always made me feel healthy. I have always felt light. Every time I sit down to eat, I am helping the environment’. It has paid off. Kamal Haasan eats veggies, fish for health
“Fish is fantastic and good for health. I have been a fan of Kamal Haasan, who loves to eat fish and I must say he has aged so well and looks so fit. One should balance the amount of oil used in cooking fish. Less refined oil and more cold-pressed will work wonders,” says Shonali.
Vikram is open about his love for mangoes
“Mangoes are great when in season. You should do it. Dieticians say it’s high on sugar, but it’s natural sugars and they are good for health.”
