Kochi: Kerala High Court on Friday asked the state government to urgently conduct the repair of Kollam-Sabarimala road before the upcoming Sabarimala season. Justice P.N. Ravindran issued the directive and stressed the importance of making the stretch an accident-free zone.
The court passed the order after considering a report filed by Devaswom special commissioner K. Babu. The state government submitted that it had allotted Rs 3 crore for the repair of the road leading to Sabarimala.
The court asked the authorities to consider banning parking on roadsides. The special commissioner had reported that there was a plan to install CCTV cameras to nab traffic offenders. The court also asked the state to arrange high-end ambulances and other facilities to help Sabarimala pilgrims.
HC stays work of ragging probe panel
Kerala High Court on Friday stayed the functioning of a committee constituted by Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor to inquire into the ragging of a fourth semester student.
The committee was constituted on appeals filed by the suspended students of the college.
