Ministers are watch dogs, says G Jagdishwar Reddy

Seemandhra leaders destroyed Telangana in the past 60 years and the TRS was trying to solve the issues

Hyderabad: Ministers are watch dogs of the Telangana people and they will do everything to protect their interests, education minister G. Jagdishwar Reddy has said.

Peeved by the comments made by the Telugu Desam leaders against them, the minister said the TD leaders were frustrated over regular desertions from the party to the TRS.

“The TD leaders say we are behaving like watch dogs for KCR. Yes, we are watch dogs of the Telangana people. KCR has said we will stand by Telangana people through thick and thin.

Why are they not able to stop their party leaders from deserting N. Chandrababu Naidu?” he asked.

Mr Jagdishwar Reddy was speaking at a programme where several Congress and Telugu Desam MPTCs, ZPTCs and other leaders from Nagarjunasagar and Huzurnagar joined the TRS at Telangana Bhavan here on Thursday.

Accusing some Telangana TD leaders of falling prey to moneybags, the education minister said when the Telangana Telugu Desam leaders could not protect their own party men from leaving the party how would they protect Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam president Mr Naidu.

“They are behaving like pet dogs of Mr Naidu and trying to put spokes in the development of Telangana. We will fight it out,” he said. Mr Jagdishwar Reddy said Telangana people not only keep track of Mr Naidu’s comments but also his actions against Telangana state.

“Seemandhra leaders destroyed Telangana in the past 60 years and the TRS was trying to solve the issues. Due to the Congress and Telugu Desam’s indifference towards Telangana over the years, party leaders and cadre from both parties are now looking towards the TRS,” Mr Jagdishwar Reddy said.

Mr Jagdishwar Reddy said both the Congress and the Telugu Desam did not join the Telangana movement during the 14 years of struggle and they were not joining hands for its reconstruction now.

"Two newspapers are spreading venom against the TRS government. We will not keep quite. We will take appropriate action if they don’t stop the slander against the government without any reason," he warned.
