Coimbatore-leg of Tata quiz comes to an end

Coimbatore: The 11th edition of the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz, a knowledge initiative of the Tata group had its Coimbatore regional round on Thursday amidst an enthralling battle of wits. Arul Saravanan and Yogesh Pai made it to the zonal finals to be held in Bengaluru.Giving the winners tough competition, Ashwin Balasubramaniam and M. Balasubramaniam from Brookefields bagged the runners-up position. A prize of Rs1,00,000/- was presented to the winning team and
Rs50,000 to the runner-up team. Winners at the national final will receive a grand prize of Rs7,00,000 along with the coveted Tata Crucible Trophy.
The Tata group in its endeavor to give back to society and harness a culture of giving amongst participants, introduced a charitable component to the quiz last year. The same will be followed this year where Rs 2 lakh from the national winning team's prize and
Rs
25,000 and Rs15,000 from the regional winners and runners up prize respectively will be contributed directly to a charity of the team's choice.
The Coimbatore regional round of the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz 2014 saw participation from 42 teams consisting of corporates from some leading companies. The top 4 teams of the quiz were selected after a written preliminary round; two more teams were selected through a wild card round.
This year, the Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz is being conducted in 25 cities and it integrates the Tata and the non-Tata track for the first time since its inception. The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam.
