YSR Congress: Telugu Desam is behind Lotus Pond protest

The land was procured from farmers

Guntur: YSR Congress general secretary J. Krishnamurthy on Monday accused the Telugu Desam of instigating farmers against party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, only to hide its failures.

Referring to the Sarasawati Cements land issue, Mr Krishnamurthy said that the people who came to Lotus Pond were not farmers, but belonged to a particular community and were instigated by the TD to project Mr Reddy as anti-farmer.

He claimed that the land was procured from farmers and they were paid more than the market price and were also allowed to carry out agriculture operations.

Mr Krishnamurthy recalled that factories like Ambuja Cements and others in the nearby areas did not start any activity for the past 15 years but the TD government had opted to cancel the lease rights of Saraswati Cements as it belongs to a YSRC MLA.
