CM K Chandrasekhar Rao goes to Delhi for Telangana cause

Hyderabad: Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao left for New Delhi on Thursday evening on a three-day trip. Mr Rao will meet Chief Justice of India Justice H L Dattu and request him to speed up the process to bifurcate the Hyderabad High Court and set up a separate High Court for Telangana. He will also meet Union ministers and take up power shortage and other issues concerning Telangana.

Mr Rao is expected to undergo an eye surgery after consulting the doctors in New Delhi. He is accompanied by a few of his family members. Mr Rao will meet Union power minister Piyush Goyal and appraise him about the severe power shortage in the state forcing the government to implement two-day power holiday per week to the industrial sector in the state besides heavy power cuts for domestic sector and seek the Centre’s help to tide over the present power crisis.

He will urge the minister to speed up the process for setting up NTPC mega-power plant in Khammam as promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, besides allocating more power to Telangana through central grid and other options.

Mr Rao has also decided to take up the issue of delay in distribution of AIS officers and state-cadre employees to Telangana. He will meet Union minister for personnel Dr Jitendra Singh and urge him to complete staff allocation at the earliest to enable the smooth functioning of Telangana govrnment.
