Hyderabad: Sania Mirza and family are currently celebrating her big mixed-doubles tennis gold at the recently-concluded Asian Games. And the Mirzas were all set to seize the day with their first visit to the Taj Mahal on Tuesday, until a rather unfortunate hiccup ruined their plans.
The family was a minute late and adamant authorities, pointing at their watches never opened the gates, despite requests. “When she arrived, the gates were closed for the day,” a tour guide was quoted as saying in a report.
Sania and family, however, made it early on Wednesday and were given a full guided tour of the place by the officials.
“We were late by just one minute. But we saw it (the monument) this morning at 6 am in detail. It was my first visit to Agra,” she said.
According to reports, cricketer Anil Kumble too was at the venue, attending an event Sania was a part of as well.
