IB says consignment of arms has reached near capital

New Delhi: Exposing Pakistan’s two-pronged terror strategy, the IB and other Central intelligence agencies have warned that it is hatching terror plots to target India’s hinterland in the festive season, and a large consignment of arms and ammunition has been sent to the Delhi-NCR area.

The terror module meant to handle this cache is also headed here from Karachi, the IB said. The Delhi area’s mass transit systems, including airports, railway stations, Metro, and places where people gather in large numbers like malls are likely targets, according to the IB alert.

According to the inputs, the arms consignment from Pakistan has entered the country through Rajasthan and reached Faridabad where it is stored at an unspecified place.

The intelligence agency has also learnt that the terror operatives are headed out from Karachi and have specifically been tasked to carry out attacks at mass transit systems like Airports and railway stations during the festival season.

All the agencies have been put on alert to make adequate security arrangements keeping in view the fresh inputs and beef up security at public places, malls, market places , airports and railway stations. A close watch is being kept on suspected persons.
