Sun God leads Lord’s chariot

Lakhs of devotees assembled around the main temple complex
Tirumala: On the seventh day of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavam at Tirumala, Lord Malayappa Swamy stepped out of the vahana mandapam riding the Surya Prabha Vahanam with the sun god himself as his charioteer. To bring new light into the world and to dispel the sins of His devotees, as Lord Malayappa Swamy majestically seated atop the glittering Surya Prabha vahanam entered the four mada streets, lakhs of devotees assembled around the main temple complex went into a spiritual rupture amidst the thunderous chants of the Govindanama.
Bedecked in jewellery with antique value, the Lord’s demeanour was enough to drive fear into the demons. The chariot of Surya Prabha of Lord Venkateswara was specially designed with flower arrangements done by a special 20-member team of florists from Coimbatore. “The entire Surya Prabha Vahanam design is made of jasmine flowers and laced with red and orange coloured Kanakambaram and Roses,” said Mr S. Srinivasulu, a garden department official.
Devotees strongly believe that one is provided with a long life and is relieved of all illness by taking part in the Surya Prabha Vahana seva. Meanwhile, Lord Malayappa Swamy bedecked in all his grandeur in the guise of Lord Venugopala Swamy stepped out of the vahana mandapam atop the Chandra Prabha Vahanam in the evening on Thursday.
According to the holy Hindu scripts, Chandra or the Moon stands for promoting medicinal values among the living beings and holds a great significance among the several processions held at Tirumala. It was a cynosure to the eyes of the devout watching the procession of the Lord atop the Chandra Pra-bha Vahanam amidst the alluring breeze atop the hill shrine in the evening.
