Minister for forest and environment stressed the need to maintain clean surroundings
Adilabad/warangal: Minister for forest and environment Jogu Ramanna stressed the need to maintain clean surroundings. He was addressing a gathering after taking part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme here on Thursday. The minister said that it was necessary to maintain one’s premises clean as it would keep away many diseases. He also underlined the need to observe personal hygiene.
The minister, collector M. Jagan Mohan, municipal chairperson R. Manisha cleaned road near the collectorate with brooms.Earlier, the minister and other officials paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Gandhi Park on Thursday. BJP leader Payal Shankar and Congress leader Ramchander Reddy also garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mr Jogu Ramanna and the collector also took part in Saddula Bathukamma celebrations at the Indira Priaydarshini stadium and gave away prizes to those who prepared the best Bathukamma idols.
In Warangal, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. Thatikonda Rajaiah called upon all the elected representatives, officials and people to take part in the ‘Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan’ programme.
He was addressing a gathering at the conference hall in the collectorate on Thursday.Over 60 per cent of diseases can be prevented if one can maintain clean surroundings, Mr Rajaiah, a doctor by qualification, said. Srikanth also took part in the programme.
Earlier, all the police officers paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kalidas said that both officials and people should work like soldiers and make India a clean country, thus making Mahatma Gandhi’s a reality. AR OSD Anwar Hussain, RI Pratap and other police officers were present. In Mahabubabad, MP Prof. Seetharam Nayak launched ‘Swach Bharat’ this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that every village and town in the country should have puccas toilets, safe drinking water, proper waste disposal system and clean roads.
MLA Shankar Nayak also took part in the programme. The elected representatives cleaned the roads with brooms and urged people to maintain sanitation near their houses and other places.
