Illegal constructions have come up in a large number in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation
Nizamabad: Illegal constructions have come up in a large number in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation limits in the last few years partially, due to negligence of the civic body officials in reworking on the master plan of the city and also due to land grabbers, working hand-in-glove with the officials.
The negligence in reworking on the master plan is even leading to a heavy revenue loss to the civic body as the officials are not able to sanction permissions for new constructions, particularly, in residential areas.
There has been no modification in the master plan of Nizamabad, which had been designed around 40 years ago. This is preventing the officials from giving permission for new constructions in residential areas.
In the comprehensive household survey held recently, the civic body officials found that there are 80,000 houses in the city but that only 50,000 houses were registered for property tax payment. The corporation is losing taxes relating to 30,000 houses.
The existing master plan does not cover Autonagar, Anand Nagar, NRI Colony, Seetharamnagar Colony and other peripheral areas. People in these areas are willing to obtain residential permission and pay the taxes but the municipal officials are not able to sanction permissions.
Speaking to this newspaper, an officer in the town planning wing of NMC said political intervention has been affecting check on illegal constructions.
