‘Youths held up in UAE without salary’

Those who seek to return to their native land were being blackmailed by the officials who threaten to trap them in false cases

Kochi: A group of parents on Tuesday alleged that their sons were being held up in a company based in the United Arab Emirates without salary for months together.

“The company, ‘Fire Engineering Services,’ formed by a Chengannur native, began employing people four months back. Though on the first month they were given the promised salary, thereafter not a single paisa was paid till date,” said Kollam native Asokan whose son Anil Kumar is an employee of the company.

Those who seek to return to their native land were being blackmailed by the officials who threaten to trap them in false cases, he charged. A total of 35 youths hailing from the state were employees in the company, he said.
