Time to dance the night away

With the Navratri festivities beginning, Tv stars share their favourite memories

Having grown up in Delhi, we didn’t have too many dandiya-raas celebrations. For us, Navratri meant a visit to the temple and puja with the entire family. Being part of a joint family, there were 11-12 of us young girls living together, all fascinated by the dandiya-raas we saw on TV, so we would buy dandiya sticks and try the steps at home. We’d even injure ourselves in the process. My co-star Neil Bhatt is Gujarati and an awesome dancer, so this year, I plan to join his troupe and learn the dance moves.

I’d once gone for a dandiya-raas event, wearing a new kurta-pyjama and shoes. Just outside the entrance to the grounds, a passing car splashed mud all over me. But I didn’t let that stop me, I just went in and danced all evening.
Toral Rasputra
As a Gujarati, I cannot keep myself away from Navratri. I love dancing and no matter how busy I get with work, I make sure to spare some time for it. The best part about Navratri is the old Gujarati songs!
