The victim’s mother was working in the Gulf as a housemaid

Hyderabad: A gangrape survivor has alleged that a journalist, Mr Ibrahim alias Sarwar, working with Express TV, along with a rowdy sheeter, had colluded with the police to settle the rape case.

“We registered a rape case soon after we received the complaint, and we arrested one accused named Ali Ashraf alias Chandu. We are searching for the second accused named Md. Ayoob,” said Mr S. Ramesh Kotwal, inspector of Kanchanbagh police station. He added that the victim’s mother had said that the sub-inspector had colluded with the accused, and harassed her continuously.

“Aijas took Rs 10,000 from me for miscellaneous expenses to pursue the case. At midnight on September 12, he called me to the police station and abused me. He asked us to go for prostitution and not waste their time by pursuing this case,” said the victim’s mother.

“He even asked my daughter if she had enjoyed the sex and why she had to lodge a police complaint if it was consensual.

He also sent a few police constables to my house and threatened us that they would take my physically challenged brother to the police station,” said the woman.

The victim’s mother was working in the Gulf as a housemaid when the rape took place. The main accused, Ali Ashraf, had got acquainted with the girl as he used to visit her house with the money sent by her mother from Gulf.
