Suzuki to double its exports from India

The company is planning to expand its reach outside India
Hyderabad: In order to expand its reach outside India, Suzuki Motorcycle India, a subsidiary of Japan-based Suzuki Motor Corporation, is aiming at double exports from its Indan facility next fiscal, said a top official of the company.“We currently export 1,500-2,000 units per month to Latin America, Bangladesh and Nepal. Now we are planning to increase it to 10 per cent of total units produced in our Gurgoan plant, which has a installed capacity of 5,40,000 units per year,” said Atul Gupta, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India.
The total exports currently is in the range of 18,000 to 24,000 units a year. Ten per cent of its total output at its plant amounts to 54,000. Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of its new bike in the premium 150 cc segment, Gixxer, in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Mr Gupta added, “The 150 cc segment is registering a stable growth rate of 11 per cent and we are looking at strengthening our portfolio in this segment”.
